Ivan H. Davis, 97, of Jackson died Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, at Jackson Manor.
He was born June 9, 1908, at Crosstown, Mo., son of George E. and Amelia Rhyne Davis. He and Fern J. Craft were married July 13, 1929. She died April 11, 1996.
Davis retired from Century Electric Co. in St. Louis in 1963, then farmed until his health began to fail. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, served as a deacon, former Sunday school teacher and former chairman of the cemetery committee. He was a former charter member of First Baptist Church in Ferguson, Mo.
Survivors include three sons, Richard Davis of Sturgeon, Mo., Clyde "Ed" Davis of Pocahontas, Gene Davis of Chester, Ill.; two daughters, Nora Lawrence of Cape Girardeau, Evelyn Elves of O'Fallon, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers and four sisters.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery.
