BLOOMFIELD -- Ivan Clifton Cooper, 77, of Bloomfield, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 1995, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff. He was born Jan. 26, 1918, at Aid, son of Aid and Lula Chiles Cooper. He first married Norma Lee Cates, who died Aug. 10, 1981. He and Mable R. West were married March 9, 1987...

BLOOMFIELD -- Ivan Clifton Cooper, 77, of Bloomfield, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 1995, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

He was born Jan. 26, 1918, at Aid, son of Aid and Lula Chiles Cooper. He first married Norma Lee Cates, who died Aug. 10, 1981. He and Mable R. West were married March 9, 1987.

Cooper was a bus driver for Bloomfield School District several years. He attended embalming school in St. Louis, and had been a licensed embalmer and funeral director since 1939.

He and his first wife built the present Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in 1966. He retired in 1985 because of ill health.

Cooper was a member of First Baptist Church, Missouri and National Funeral Directors Associations, and past president of Bloomfield Kiwanis Club. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include his wife.

Friends may call at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Charles Hanna officiating. Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery.
