Iva L. Welter, 94, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, March 26, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Dec. 14, 1909, at Morley, Mo., daughter of John F. and Anna Mae Clifton Thompson. She and Theodore "Ted" Welter were married Dec. 19, 1936, at Sikeston, Mo. He died March 3, 1978...

Iva L. Welter, 94, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, March 26, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 14, 1909, at Morley, Mo., daughter of John F. and Anna Mae Clifton Thompson. She and Theodore "Ted" Welter were married Dec. 19, 1936, at Sikeston, Mo. He died March 3, 1978.

Welter was a secretary at a jewelry store. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Club, the Friends of St. Francis and president of Ladies Friendship Club. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and was on the St. Mary's Council of Catholic Women and Auxiliary Legion of Mary.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Hermina Trinkler of Merriville, Ind.; eight nephews, Jerry Thompson of Texas, Marvin and Lillian Westrich of New Hamburg, Mo., Andrew J. and Juanita Westrich of Jackson, Leon and Helen Welter and Sylvester Welter, all of Kelso, Mo., Gregory and Georgia Scherer of Benton, Mo., Jerome and Rose Scherer of Cape Girardeau, and Charles and Linda Trinkler of Hobart, Ind.; 11 nieces, Cora Hawkins of Medford, Oregon, Geneva and Cornelius Dirnberger and Mary Ann Scheffer, all of Benton, Mo., Wilma and C.A. Martin of Advance, Mo., Revella and Vernon Schlosser of Scott City, Celestia Stiemle and Zeta "Toots" Welter, both of Kelso, Mo., Betty and Joe Kluesner and Martha Jo and Don Ziegler, all of Cape Girardeau, Janet and Ron Pearson of Merriville, Ind., and Rita and Jim Leaser of Hobart, Ind.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, three sisters and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 4:30 to 8 p.m. today at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel, with parish prayers at 7 p.m.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Revs. Tom Kiefer and Jim Seyer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at Cape Girardeau.
