Iva Beatrice Proffer, 100, of Hendersonville, Tenn., formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at National Health Care Cenetr in Hendersonville. She was born April 8, 1909, in Whitewater to Ivy Gracy and Eva Galeener Brincefield. She and Omar Glen Proffer were married March 26, 1927, at Cape Girardeau. He died Nov. 14, 1989...

Iva Beatrice Proffer, 100, of Hendersonville, Tenn., formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at National Health Care Cenetr in Hendersonville.

She was born April 8, 1909, in Whitewater to Ivy Gracy and Eva Galeener Brincefield.

She and Omar Glen Proffer were married March 26, 1927, at Cape Girardeau. He died Nov. 14, 1989.

She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include two sons, Jack Proffer of Cape Girardeau and Jerry Proffer of Virginia Beach, Va.; three daughters, Joan Patten and Marilyn O'Howell of Hendersonville, and Ruth Dunlavy of Venice, Fla.; a son-in-law, Paul Cummins of Dayton, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Lorna Cummins; two brothers; and a grandchild.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. William Burk officiating.

Burial will be at Fairmont Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
