Irwin E. Fuchs, 86 years of age, of McClure, Illinois passed away Monday, January 18, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center. He was born August 16, 1912 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of John Henry and Anna Penno Fuchs. Mr. Fuchs was president and owner of Bardahl Oil Co. in St. Louis, Missouri between 1945 to 1972; retiring in 1972.
He was an avid hunter in Africa, Alaska and Canada, breeder of Arabian horses, avid boat cruiser and was the owner of Lyerla Lake Farm for goose and deer hunting in Reynoldsville, Illinois.
On Sept. 21, 1982 he married the former Peggye Pallett in Clayton. Survivors include his wife, Peggye Fuchs of McClure, Illinois; and a niece, Joan Hill of St. Charles, Missouri. He was preceded in death by one sister, Hazel Knost.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 20, 1999 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel, Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Funeral service will be Thursday, January 21, 1999 at 10:30 a.m. at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel with Rev. James Caughlan officiating. Entombment will be at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
The family requests memorials to be made to the Salvation Army.
