Irma Joan Murphy, 60, of Cape Girardeau, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, at her home, following an extended illness.

She was born Feb. 26, 1941, near East Prairie, Mo., daughter of William Carl and Mary Nell Tyner Bard.

Murphy was a 1958 graduate of Anniston High School.

She had been a secretary at Brown Shoe Co. in Charleston, Mo., and retired from Procter & Gamble in 1997. She had lived in Cape Girardeau the past 34 years.

Survivors include two sons, James Murphy of Chester, Ill., Anthony Murphy of Potosi, Mo.; a daughter, Belinda Kinzel of Sedgewickville, Mo.; four sisters, Betty Jackson of Anniston, Mo., Joyce Pointer of St. Louis, Sandra Pond of Portland, Ore., and Sharon Dorris of Derby, Kan.

Also surviving are five brothers, Billy Bard of East Prairie, Dennis and Gary Bard of Murrells Inlet, S.C., James Bard of Anniston, Harry Bard of Charleston; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and two stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie after 5 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Martin Lucas officiating. Burial will be in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
