ODESSA, Mo. -- Irene Marie Ede Nanney, 88, of Odessa, formerly of Grassy, Missouri, passed away Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, at St. Mary's Nursing Home in Blue Springs, Missouri.
She was born Dec. 4, 1927, in De Soto, Missouri, the daughter of Henry and Leona Couch Ede. She married Roy Henry Wann and then Arthur Smith. Later, she married Chester Nanney.
Marie worked as a waitress, in a video store and in a bookstore. She was a member of Greenton Southern Baptist Church in Odessa and was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include her son, Thomas Henry Wann of Odessa; a sister, Ora Mae Kirkpatrick of Grassy; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service today at Grassy Friendship General Baptist Church.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at the church, with the Rev. Ryan Smith officiating. Burial will be in Grassy Cemetery in Grassy.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested for Grassy Cemetery or for the American Breast Cancer Society.
