Irene Palmer Montgomery, 84, of Chateau Girardeau, died there Saturday, May 31, 1997.
She was born Aug. 29, 1912, at Dexter, daughter of Edward Winchester and Vivian Carrico Grojean. She first married Milton E. Palmer and they moved to Michigan. He preceded her in death. She and Raymond Montgomery were married March 25, 1951, at Dexter.
Montgomery worked at Famous-Barr in St. Louis and after moving to Cape Girardeau she was a floral designer at Rust and Martin. She was also a volunteer floral designer in the gift shop at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Rose Hill Garden Club, and PEO Sisterhood.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Palmer of Portland, Ore.; a stepson, Roger Montgomery of Kennett; three grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and twin sister.
There is no visitation.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel, with the Rev. Neil Stein officiating.
