Irene Borkowski, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Ratliff Care Center.
She was born April 16, 1928, in Chicago, to John and Sophie Wegel Krzos, the youngest of 13 children. She and Joseph J. Borkowski were married Feb. 23, 1952. He preceded her in death March 28, 1997.
Irene moved to Cape Girardeau in 1998 from Florida. She was an avid tennis player and golfer, gave tennis lessons, and was an artist. She was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include a son, Jonathan Borkowski of Chicago; a daughter, Lori Reid of Cape Girardeau; and two grandchildren, T.J. Reid of St. Louis and Alex Reid of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Earl Norman officiating. Interment will be in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
