Mary Ilene Niswonger, 91, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Dec. 25, 2014, at Monticello House in Jackson.

She was born Feb. 17, 1923, in Kurreville, Missouri, daughter of William "Bill" and Josephine Ates Welker. She and Rusby Dayton Niswonger were married Feb. 15, 1941, in Millersville.

Ilene was a member of Calvary United Pentecostal Church in Jackson 58 years, where she was a youth Sunday school teacher many years. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary in Jackson and a former member of Oak Ridge Eastern Star.

Loving survivors include her husband of 73 years, Rusby; a son, Paul (Beverly) Niswonger of Jackson; a daughter, Mary Holtzclaw of East Cape Girardeau, Illinois; a brother, Leo (Gloria) Welker of Jackson; and a daughter-in-law, Renita Niswonger of Georgia; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, William "Bill" Niswonger; a son-in-law, Charles Holtzclaw; a granddaughter; a great-granddaughter; three brothers; and two sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ronnie Brown officiating. Interment will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Niswonger Church or Cemetery Fund.
