Ida Lee Hairston, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1925, in Columbus, Miss., to Isaac Henry and Janie Shields. She and Jack Hairston were married at Columbus. He preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Second Missionary Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include three sons, Anderson Cowson of Cape Girardeau, Isac Henry Hairston and Robert Earl Hairston, both of St. Louis; three daughters, Mary Newson of Compton, Calif., Betty Stevenson and Ida Lee Hairston, both of St. Louis; two sisters, Ella Staples of Columbus, Ohio, Corrine Buchanan of Memphis, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sons and one brother.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Wiley Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
