ADVANCE, Mo. -- Raymond "Hughie" Lape, 91, of Advance passed away Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, at his home. He was born Dec. 23, 1930, the son of Fritz and Inez Weaver Lape. Hughie had been the owner and operator of Lape Farms. Prior to being a farmer, he had enjoyed driving a gravel truck for a living. He was a member of the Masonic Lakeville Lodge. ADVANCE, Mo. -- Raymond "Hughie" Lape, 91, of Advance passed away Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, at his home. He was born Dec. 23, 1930, the son of Fritz and Inez Weaver Lape.

Hughie had been the owner and operator of Lape Farms. Prior to being a farmer, he had enjoyed driving a gravel truck for a living. He was a member of the Masonic Lakeville Lodge. He was also a member of the Berrong General Baptist Church near Zalma, Missouri.

Hughie enjoyed driving his golf cart around and loved horse racing.

Hughie and Delma Lucille Durham were united in marriage on May 23, 1949, in Piggott, Arkansas, and she preceded him in death Jan. 22, 2015.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda (Alan) DeJournett and Linda (Jerry) Adkins, both of Advance; a son, Dwaine (Pam) Lape of Dexter, Missouri; a sister, Peggy Moore of Dexter; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Delma Lape; a brother, Dale Lape; and a sister, Iva Jean Hart.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon today at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.

A funeral service will be held at noon today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Fred Ritter officiating. Burial will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
