PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Hubert C. Koetting, 78, of Perryville died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at Jefferson County Memorial Hospital in Festus, Mo.
He was born Nov. 12, 1924, at Ste. Genevieve, Mo., son of Clarence J. and Julia Rickard Koetting. He first married Dolores Schemel July 13, 1947, who died March 12, 1964. He later married Helen Earlene Leslie June 8, 1968.
Koetting retired as office manager at Citizens Electric. He was director of Perry County Civil Defense, and was a deputy with the auxiliary police.
He was a member of the Lions Club and served as deputy district governor. He was a member and had been adjutant and commander of American Legion Post 133, member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society, Ste. Genevieve Municipal Band, 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus, and past member of Perryville Chamber of Commerce.
Koetting served with the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II, and served two years in the National Guard.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dean Koetting of Lubbock, Texas, Douglas Koetting of Evansville, Ind.; two daughters, Deborah Denton of Maryland Heights, Mo., Denice Hiser of Newburgh, Ind.; a brother, Julian Koetting of Mira Loma, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, and a sister.
Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday, and Friday from 6:30 to 11 a.m. The Knights of Columbus wake will be at 7 p.m. Thursday. The rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m. Friday.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kevin Fausz officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery, with military graveside service by American Legion Post 133.
