PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Hubert G. Boxdorfer, 84, of Caseyville, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Illinois.

He was born April 26, 1930, in Perryville, son of Leonard G. and Wilhelmina "Minnie" Deimund Boxdorfer.

Hubert attended the Boxdorfer School in Perryville and received diesel mechanic training at Bailey Trade School in St. Louis.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Hubert worked as a diesel mechanic for Greyhound Bus Line. He was a member of Caseyville United Methodist Church, Caseyville Volunteer Fire Department 22 years, a lifetime member of Smithton Sportsman Club, the American Legion Post 0365 in Collinsville, Illinois, and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Lodge.

He served as an election judge in Caseyville Precinct 6. He loved to fish and volunteered his time helping people. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Sylvia Lintner Boxdorfer of Caseyville; a daughter, Janet (Rick) Schmidt of Belleville; three grandchildren, Elijah (Tiffany) Schmidt, Tyler (Carolyn) Abide, Wilhelmina Schmidt; a great-granddaughter, Olive Abide; six brothers, Alvin (Mary) Boxdorfer, Richard (Ruth) Boxdorfer, Thomas (Reva) Boxdorfer, Dan (Patti) Boxdorfer, Milford (Joyce) Boxdorfer and Ollie (Lynn) Boxdorfer; a sister, Clara Hall; three brothers-in-law, Lloyd (Edna) Lintner, Earl (Virginia) Lintner and Walter Holmes; two sisters-in-law, Ellen "Jeanie" Boxdorfer and Ruth Boxdorfer; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Mark A. Boxdorfer; his parents; two brothers, Marvin and Ervin Boxdorfer; a sister, Judy Holmes; and a brother-in-law, Gerald R. Lintner Sr.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Lake View Funeral Home in Fairview Heights, Illinois.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Dan Harry officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights.

Memorials are appreciated to the Caseyville Volunteer Fire Department or Caseyville United Methodist Church.
