HOWARD OVERTON

SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Howard C. Overton of Sikeston will be held at 2 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home. The Rev. Lloyd Latham will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Overton, 72, died Monday, March 31, 1997, at his home.

He was born Feb. 7, 1925, in Muskogee, Okla., son of Henry Lawrence and Mary Anna Messersmith Overton. He and Dorothy Brown were married March 13, 1943.

Overton was a self-employed auto mechanic, and also worked at Scott County Milling Co. 18 years. He attended Sandywood Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Howard "Sonny" Overton Jr. of Sikeston, Charles Overton of Matthews; five daughters, Joyce Moser of Bloomfield, Doris Patterson of Parma, Scharlet Mulvania of LeClair, Iowa, Linda Nauceder of Alworth, Ga., Barbara McGhee of Sikeston; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, a daughter, two brothers, and a sister.
