ANNA, Ill. -- Howard Leon "Tom" Girtman, 68, of Anna and formerly of Cobden, died Thursday, March 30, 2000, at the Veterans Hospital in Marion.
He was born April 5, 1931, in Alto Pass, the son of Coy and Dorothy Mae Little Girtman. He married Marion Peacock Nov. 8, 1952, in Cobden. She died Oct. 27, 1990.
He was retired from the U.S. Air Force, where he was a warehouse supervisor.
He is survived by his father of Cobden; two daughters, Patricia Marie Zellman of Detroit, Mich., and Gisele Gale Davis of Anna; three brothers, Charles Edward Girtman of Herrin, Coy Eugene Girtman of Goreville and Joseph Wayne Girtman of Cobden; two sisters, Donna Jane Duty of Cobden and Judith Ann Bollinger of East Lansing, Mich.; four grandchildren; and special friends Angie Middleton and Herb Robinson.
He was preceded in death by his mother and a sister.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Saturday at the Lutz & Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joseph Van Roekel officiating.
Burial with full military honors by Anna VFW Post 3455 will be at the Cobden Cemetery.
