FARRAR, Mo. -- Homer E. Eggers, 84, of St. Louis died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, at Laclede Groves Nursing Home in St. Louis.
He was born March 18, 1925, at Farrar, son of Martin "Tom" and Ella Kaempfe Eggers. He and Grace Weinhold were married Feb. 23, 1952.
Survivors include three children, Susan (Brian) Eggers-Wolff of Oak Park, Ill., Thomas (Peggy) Eggers of Gilroy, Calif., Nancy Elenbaas of Waukegan, Ill.; two grandchildren, Christian Elenbaas and Corinne Blair; two sisters, Mildred Bopp of Louisiana and Ruby Baisch of Webster Groves, Mo.
Mr. Eggers was a senior purchasing agent with AB Chance in Centralia, Mo. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Webster Gardens in St. Louis, former member of Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar, VFW and American Legion.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a sister, Vera Fischer; and a brother, Lester Eggers.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. to service time Friday at the Lutheran Church of Webster Gardens, 8749 Watson Road, St. Louis.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Joel Christian officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Perryville, Mo.
Memorials are preferred to the Lutheran Church of Webster Gardens Parish Nurse Endowment Fund.
Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville is in charge of arrangements.
