Homer E. Cooper, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at The Arbors. He was born Feb. 5, 1913, at Kennett, Mo., son of Milton Madison and Emmalou Pry Cooper. He and Verda Dunivan were married Sept. 4, 1933, in Jonesboro, Ill. Mr. Cooper was a salesman at Montgomery Ward many years, operated Cooper's Vending, owned and operated a clothing store on William Street, and was an auditor for Missouri Department of Revenue in the 1960s...

Homer E. Cooper, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at The Arbors.

He was born Feb. 5, 1913, at Kennett, Mo., son of Milton Madison and Emmalou Pry Cooper. He and Verda Dunivan were married Sept. 4, 1933, in Jonesboro, Ill.

Mr. Cooper was a salesman at Montgomery Ward many years, operated Cooper's Vending, owned and operated a clothing store on William Street, and was an auditor for Missouri Department of Revenue in the 1960s.

He served on the Cape Girardeau County Democratic Central Committee many years. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Doris Anderson of Fort Myers, Fla.; two grandsons, Kevin Cooper of Marble Hill, Mo., Bill Anderson of Tampa, Fla.; a granddaughter, Ginger Weber of Fort Myers; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, three brothers, and two sisters.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. The Rev. Jay White will officiate. Burial will be in Jackson City Cemetery at Jackson, Mo.
