GRASSY, Mo. -- Hobert A. McMath, 77, of Grassy died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born Dec. 5, 1924, at Chester, Ill., son of James and Lucy Kerkhover McMath.

He married Ann McConky. She preceded him in death. He later married Alice Vesterby.

He retired from the Monsanto Chemical Company in 1981. He was a member of American Legion Post 505 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7980 at Millstadt, Ill.

Survivors include his mother of Chester; wife of Grassy; four brothers, Oscar McMath of the state of Washington, Wilbert McMath of Waterloo, Ill., Gilbert McMath of Chester and Rudolph Pahich of Kansas City, Mo.; four sisters, Cleo Shemonic and Hilda Diercks, both of Chester, Juanita Bleem of Walsh, Ill., and Ramona Lolan of Red Bud, Ill.

He was preceded in death by one son and two brothers.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, Mo.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Bill Huggins officiating. Burial, with full military rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5900 and the Missouri Honor Team, will be in Baker Cemetery near Marble Hill.
