SIKESTON, Mo. -- Hoang Xvan Nguyen, 81, of Miner, Mo., formerly of Vietnam died Friday, May 30, 2003, at his home.
He was born Jan. 1, 1922, in Nghe An, Vietnam, son of Danh Van and Trieu Thi Nguyen. He and Nam Thi Nguyen were married in 1955 in Saigon.
He was a farmer and served with the National Guard of South Vietnam. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sikeston.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dat Quoc Nguyen of Detroit and Quyen Tan Nguyen of Sikeston; four daughters, Hoa "Mary" T.C. Nguyen of Sikeston, Hong T.T. Nguyen of Detroit, Van T.T. Nguyen of Warren, Mich., and Trang T.T. Nguyen of Vietnam; a brother, Dieu Nguyen of Vietnam; two sisters, Bleh T. Nguyen and Vui T. Nguyen, both of Vietnam; and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Visitation was held Sunday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, followed by a funeral mass at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The Rev. Stephen A. Schneider officiated. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
