HESTER MORTON

JACKSON -- Funeral for Hester Morton of Jackson will be held at 11 a.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. The Rev. Luther Rhodes will officiate, with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Fruitland.

Morton, 88, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 6, 1910, near Leemon, daughter of Millard and Minerva Walker Medlock. She married Ed Morton Nov. 10, 1930. He died May 6, 1976.

Morton was a lifelong member of New Bethel Baptist Church. She had resided on the family farm near Leemon from 1933 until moving to the Lutheran Home 18 months ago.

Survivors include three sons, Leon, Jerry and Glen Morton, all of Jackson; two daughters, Betty Hink of Florissant, Doris King of Bowling Green, Ky.; a sister, Maud Gohn of Jackson; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
