HESTER DAWSON

BERNIE -- Hester Josephine Dawson, 78, of Bernie died Friday, June 12, 1998, at her home.

She was born Jan. 17, 1920, at Bernie, daughter of John Edward and Anna Margarette Kleffer Horton.

She married James Russell Dawson on Nov. 28, 1942, at Dexter. He died Aug. 30, 1993.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Vinson General Baptist Church and attended the Bernie First Baptist Church.

Survivors include five sons, James Russell "Jim" Dawson Jr. of Winter Haven, Fla., Phil and Tom Dawson, both of Bernie, John Dawson of Columbiana, Ohio, and Bruce Dawson of Dexter; a daughter, Joann Smith of Helena, Ark.; a brother, Chester "Sonny" Horton of Bernie; a sister, Ruth Craft of Bernie; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at the Rainey Funeral Home at Bernie from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Rainey Chapel.

The Revs. Doyle Corlew and John Davis will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
