MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Hester Pearl Carroll, 94, of Demopolis, Ala., formerly of Marble Hill and West Plains, Mo., died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at Woodhaven Manor Nursing Home in Demopolis. She was born Oct. 18, 1908, in Benton, Ill., daughter of Thomas Burrell and Maude M. Dunn Smith. She and Doyle E. Pyle were married March 10, 1936. He died in 1945. She and Thomas A. Carroll were married in 1952. He also preceded her in death...

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Hester Pearl Carroll, 94, of Demopolis, Ala., formerly of Marble Hill and West Plains, Mo., died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at Woodhaven Manor Nursing Home in Demopolis.

She was born Oct. 18, 1908, in Benton, Ill., daughter of Thomas Burrell and Maude M. Dunn Smith. She and Doyle E. Pyle were married March 10, 1936. He died in 1945. She and Thomas A. Carroll were married in 1952. He also preceded her in death.

Carroll was involved with tent services for the Child Evangelism Fellowship.

Survivors include a son, Gale Pyle of Lansdowne, Pa.; a daughter, Joyce McMahon of Demopolis; three brothers, Howard Smith of Festus, Mo., Joe Smith of Bernie, Mo., Ralph Smith of Sebastopol, Calif.; two sisters, Retta Varner of Ash Grove, Mo., Linda Troutt of Florence, Mont.; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill after 12:30 p.m. Friday.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gene Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Grassy Cemetery at Grassy, Mo.
