DEXTER -- Funeral service for Hershel Harper of Dexter was held Monday at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Chapel in Bloomfield. The Rev. Edsel Pruett officiated, with burial in Bluff Cemetery at Idalia.
Harper, 66, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1993, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
He was born July 3, 1926, at Bloomfield, son of Fred and Verdie Evans Harper. He and Janice Wisner were married July 2, 1940. She died June 13, 1992. He later married Geneva Williams.
Harper was a retired master sergeant from the U.S. Air Force, and retired social worker with State of Missouri.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Bill Gatlin of Eldon, Fred and David Harper of Fayette, Gordon Harper of Columbia; three daughters, June Littrell of Millstadt, Ill., Donna Sapp of St. Joseph, Tracy Reynolds of Alexandria, La.; two brothers, Edward Harper of Hesperus, Colo., Charles Harper of Ozark; two sisters, Louise Banks of Bloomfield, Betty Banken of Dexter; 12 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
