Hershel W. Campbell, 73, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Kindred Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Sept. 1, 1939, in Meridian, Miss., to the late Sam and Georgia M. Murray Campbell. He and Lena Brock were married in 1962. She preceded him in death Feb. 27, 2012.
Campbell was a former employee of the city of Cape Girardeau, and a member of New Horizon Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by four sons and a daughter-in-law, Gregory Campbell of Jackson, Kenneth and Teresa Campbell and William Jackson of Cape Girardeau, William Campbell of Madison, Wis.; eight daughters and a son-in-law, Delia and Steven Douthil, Carolin Campbell, Rose Mary Campbell, Rose Jackson and Sherry Jackson of Cape Girardeau, Debra Campbell and Linda Campbell of Madison, Peggy Thornton of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; a brother, Melvin Campbell of Cape Girardeau; four sisters, Eva Hardin, Mable Willhite, Edna Summers and Girlie McCoy of Chicago; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Saturday from noon until service time at 1 p.m. at Second Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, with Howard McGee officiating. Interment will be in Fairmont Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Williams Funeral Home of Charleston, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.
