Herman H. Zschille Jr., 86, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 22, 1927, in Jackson, son of Herman H. and Regina Kurre Zschille Sr. He and Joyce Page were married Feb. 10, 1948.
Herman was a lifelong member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson. He loved his family and dedicated his life to them. He avidly followed Jackson sports, especially football and basketball, attending all home games. He enjoyed watching his grandson, Jeremy, wrestle from first grade through high school. Tractor rides were always a source of enjoyment for his great-grandkids, but it was never decided who had more fun, the kids or Pop!
Loving survivors include his wife of 66 years; a son, Steve (Kathy) Zschille of Sedgewickville, Mo.; a daughter, Susan Loenneke of Jackson; five grandchildren, Christi (Keith) Peters of St. Louis, Matthew (Karrie) Zschille and Ben (Krissy) Loenneke of Jackson, Dr. Jeremy Loenneke of Norman, Okla., and Dustin (Ashley) Jones of Sedgewickville; eight great-grandchildren, Nicholas Loenneke, Keagan and Maklain Zschille, Sydney, Peyton and Brynn Peters, Alissa and Gunner Jones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a granddaughter, Stacey.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bob Atkinson officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Emanuel United Church of Christ Memorial Fund.
