ADVANCE -- Funeral Mass for Herman R. Weissenborn of Granite City, Ill., was held Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City. The Rev. Frances Tebengura officiated, with burial in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
Werner Funeral Home in Pontoon Beach, Ill., was in charge of arrangements.
Weissenborn, 75, died Friday, Nov. 28, 1997, at St. John's Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Dec. 16, 1921, in Advance, son of Herman R. and Edna Hitt Weissenborn. He and Margaret Robbers were married in 1946.
Weissenborn was a material handler 39 years at Granite City Steel, retiring in 1983. He had lived in Granite City 70 years, and was a member of St. Elizabeth Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Rick Weissenborn of Granite City, David Weissenborn of Florissant; three daughters, Kathy Jaeger and Sandy Winkler of St. Louis, Terry Lopez of Kansas City, Kan.; two brothers, Ben Weissenborn of Hot Springs, Ark., Ray Weissenborn of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Shirley Tillman of Granite City; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
