JONESBORO, Ill. -- Graveside service for Herbert Brown of Rogersville, Mo., will be held at 1 p.m. today at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Springfield. Military rites will be conducted by the Fleet Reserve Association.
Brown, 80, died Friday, April 14, 2000, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Mo.
He was born Jan. 10, 1920, in Jonesboro, son of James and Sarah Gunter Brown. He and Ivarene Andrews were married Oct. 31, 1982.
Brown retired from the U.S. Navy in 1971, having served 30 years active federal service and received many awards.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Janet Brown of Marquette, Mich.; a son, Kenneth Brown; two stepsons, Bob and Oscar Nell Jr. of Springfield; a brother, Loyd Brown of Louisville, Ky.; a sister, Frances Rathart of Truckston, Mo.; 17 stepgrandchildren; and 16 great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers.
