COBDEN, Ill. -- Henry L. "Doc" Wohlwend Jr., 69, of LeRoy died Sunday, Jan. 12, 1997, at St. Joseph Medical Center Skilled Care Unit in Bloomington.

He was born July 9, 1927, in Cobden, son of Henry L. and Anna Singler Wohlwend. He and Gail England were married Sept. 2, 1956, in Champaign.

Wohlwend was formerly of Cape Girardeau, Mo. He was a retired salesman and had worked at the Carlock Weigh Station in Illinois. He was a member of LeRoy Christian Church, and Ruel Neal American Legion Post 79 in LeRoy. He was a medic with the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Louis Wohlwend of Anna, John Wohlwend of LeRoy; four daughters, Sharon Gaffncy of LeRoy, Sue Murphy of East Peoria, Patricia Wickert of Viroqua, Wis., Janet Hoffman of Rhodesdale, Md.; a sister, Mildred Fulford of Lincoln; and 11 grandchildren.

Friends may call at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home in LeRoy from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Vernon L. Oakley officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery at LeRoy, with military rites by the American Legion.
