ADVANCE, Mo. -- Henry Lucky Schatte, 74, of Advance passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. ADVANCE, Mo. -- Henry Lucky Schatte, 74, of Advance passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 1, 1943, in Advance, the son of John and Lena Daniels Schatte. Lucky and Bernice Seiler were united in marriage Oct. 24, 1970, at St. Joseph Church in Advance by the Rev. John Wells.

He was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of the VFW Post 7750. He was a Vietnam veteran; he served in the U.S. Army 62nd Engineer Battalion and 554 Engineer Battalion.

Lucky enjoyed country music, woodworking and mechanics. He always had a passion for airplanes and a love for corvettes.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandpa. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren greatly.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bernice Schatte; son, Steve (Michelle) Schatte of Stotts City, Missouri; a daughter, Amy (Greg) Kester of Festus, Missouri; grandchildren, Natosha, John, Maycee and Kenna Schatte and Alex and Jack Kester; and three sisters, Mildred (Sam) Conrad, Lora (Jim) Owens and Ida Nell (Dwayne) Younger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles "Bud" Schatte and Kenneth Schatte; and a sister, Pearl Winchester.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dale Wiseman officiating. Burial will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance, with full military rites.
