Funeral for Henry Howard Hinton of Cape Girardeau will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Robert Klein will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Friends may call at the chapel Friday from 1 p.m. to service time.

Hinton, 84, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 10, 1914, at Allenville, son of H.H. and Carrie Kinder Hinton. He and Edna Geringer were married in June 1934, in Cape Girardeau. She died June 2, 1971.

Hinton had worked at International Shoe Co., and played on the Capahas baseball team.

He moved to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1948 and was manager of Bearden's Drive-In until 1971. He then worked at Ramada Inn and Dennys until retiring in 1979, and then moved back to Cape Girardeau.

Hinton served with the U.S. Army in the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater and received two Bronze Stars. He was a member of American Legion Post.

Survivors include a son, Roger Hinton of North Ridgeville, Ohio; a daughter, Judy Holmes of Jacksonville, Fla.; four sisters, Drucille Picou, Vivian Reynolds and Ruth Conrad, all of Cape Girardeau, Maxine Reed of Scott City; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
