JACKSON -- Henry H. Sappington, 72, of Jackson died Friday, May 15, 1998. He was born June 26, 1925, at Detroit, Mich., son of Henry and Blanch Greer Sappington. He married the former Marie Rodery on June 14, 1948. She survives. He was manager of the International Harvester dealership at Poplar Bluff from 1948 to 1955 and moved to Jackson in 1955, where he founded the H & S Equipment Co. ...

JACKSON -- Henry H. Sappington, 72, of Jackson died Friday, May 15, 1998.

He was born June 26, 1925, at Detroit, Mich., son of Henry and Blanch Greer Sappington.

He married the former Marie Rodery on June 14, 1948. She survives.

He was manager of the International Harvester dealership at Poplar Bluff from 1948 to 1955 and moved to Jackson in 1955, where he founded the H & S Equipment Co. He was owner-manager until he retired in 1993. H & S Equipment was an honored XL Dealership with International Harvester.

He served three years in the Army during World War II. He was a charter member of the Jackson Jaycees, a member of the American Legion at Jackson and a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include sons, Gary Sappington and Don Sappington, both of Jackson; two brothers, Willard Sappington of Munising, Mich., Walter Sappington of Anglewood, Fla.; a sister, Charlotte Velie of Northridge, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.

Service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, with the Rev. Kevin Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Jackson.
