Henry Conary Jr.

Henry Thomas Conary Jr., 70, of Jackson passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 20, 1935, at Bar Harbor, Maine, son of the late Henry T. and Rosalie Thompson Conary. He and Martha Hanscom were married Sept. 6, 1958, at Bar Harbor.

Conary was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served just after the Korean War. After his military service he worked as a geochemist for the former Humble Oil Co., which is now part of Exxon. While living in St. Louis, he worked 14 1/2 years as a chief engineer for Huffman Towing Co., and in 1998 he retired while working at the Cape County Health Department after 7 1/2 years of service. Conary was a member of the Jackson Senior Center. He enjoyed making furniture and cabinets and outdoor activities.

In addition to his loving wife of 47 years, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Maurice and Diana Conary of O'Fallon, Ill.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Steven Suhre of St. Louis and Cindy and Gary Suhre of Jackson; nine grandchildren, Joshua Conary and wife Jennifer, Gregory Conary, Christopher, Allison and Kaitlin Suhre, Brian Huckstep and Dakota, Jennifer and Jamie Suhre.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. David Johnson officiating.

Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Jackson Senior Center.
