CHARLESTON -- Henri R. "Heinie" Hequembourg, 80, of Charleston, died Monday, July 27, 1992, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Feb. 23, 1912, at Charleston, son of Charles W. and Corinne Williams Hequembourg. He and Eleanor Hearnes were married Sept. 4, 1934.
Hequembourg was a mail carrier with Charleston Post Office 45 years, retiring in December 1976. He also managed Charleston Country Club Golf Course 32 years.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church here, and served more than 30 years in various areas of the church.
Hequembourg was a member of Charleston Lions Club 41 years, serving as secretary 20 years; was Charleston Man of the Year in 1970, and was honored by the country club members in 1967 and 1991. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Henri "Bud" Hequembourg Jr. of Atlanta, Ga., Donald Hequembourg of St. Louis; a daughter, Janis Stewart of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother, Charles Hequembourg Jr. of Daytona Beach, Fla.; four sisters, Hortense Montage of Winchester, Tenn., Martha Green of Bowling Green, Ada Myers and Adele Atteberry of Charleston; 11 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church. The Rev. Richard Combs will officiate, with burial in IOOF Cemetery.
