Helen Polk

CAIRO, Ill. -- Helen Polk, 73, of Cairo died Sunday, March 12, 2006, at Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Jan. 4, 1933, in East Prairie, Mo., daughter of George and Sadie Lee Singleton Nance. She moved from Wolf Island to Cairo in 1981.

Survivors include a son, Melvin Polk of Tamms, Ill.; a daughter, Janice Campbell of Joliet, Ill.; a sister, Virginia Manker of Cairo; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, four brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, Mo., from 11 a.m. to service time Thursday.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bill Meeks officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Heights Cemetery at Mounds, Ill.
