Helen Lorraine Marshall Miller, 81, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.
She was born May 8, 1921, in Benton, Mo., daughter of Alonzo Lewis and Lorraine Good Marshall. She and Ernest W. Miller were married Oct. 22, 1955, in Cape Girardeau. He died March 11, 1976.
Helen attended Cape Girardeau Public Schools, and graduated from Central High School and Cape Girardeau Business College.
She began work in 1941 with a claims adjusting firm, worked for several law firms, and retired as secretary for Cape Girardeau Board of Education.
She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, a PEO chapter, Gov. Bradford Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution in Danville, Ill, and former member of Cape Garden Club. She was a charter member of Girardot chapter of National Secretaries Association, served as state president of Missouri Division of National Secretaries Association in 1954, and held several offices in the local chapter.
Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Isabel and Harry Baxter of Danville; three nephews, Timothy Val Marshall of Elsberry, Mo., Harry Long Baxter of Champaign, Ill., Stephen Lennox Baxter of Chatham, Ill.; and nine great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a twin brother, Val, who died in 1983.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at noon at the funeral home, with Dr. Clayton Smith officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
