KARNAK, Ill. -- Helen McFarland, 87, of Karnak died Monday, Nov. 10, 1997, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Metropolis.

She was born June 18, 1910, in Carbondale, daughter of Ed and Belle Smith Glasco. She married John D. McFarland, who died in 1962.

McFarland had worked at the Geneva Correctional Center in Geneva, and at Huebbers Boys Home in Carbondale. She was a member of Belknap Community Church, and attended Foreman Community Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Derralene Davis of Karnak; a son, John McFarland of West Frankfort; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, two sisters, seven brothers, and two grandchildren.

Friends may call at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kenneth Capps officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery at Marion.
