CHARLESTON, Mo. -- Helen Lucy Maxey, 73, of Tecumseh, Okla., formerly of Charleston, died Monday, June 26, 2000, at Mission Hills Hospital in Shawnee, Okla.
She was born Oct. 15, 1926, at Wyatt, daughter of Lindsay Garner and Opha Mae Kennedy Baker. She and James C. Maxey were married Oct. 7, 1955. He died Feb. 27, 1998.
Maxey lived in Mississippi County most of her life. She retired from Brown Shoe Co. in Charleston. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Bertrand.
Survivors include four brothers, Lindsay Baker Jr. of East Prairie, Willis Baker of Peoria, Ill., Arnold Baker of Charleston, Alfred Baker of Marion, Ill.; seven sisters, Frances Stewart of Tecumseh, Hazel Lee of Waxahachie, Texas, Ruth Robinson of Park Hills, Mary Simpkins of Charleston, Bobbie Cortiva of St. Louis, Alice Modica of Anabel, and Rita Walker of Streetman, Texas.
She was preceded in death by a son and a sister.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Revs. Charlie Cates and Tom Warren will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
