Helen Lankheit Carman, age 85, a resident of Charleston, died at 11:20 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 1999, at the Bertrand Nursing Facility.
She was born May 26, 1914 in Texas Bend Community (north of Charleston) to the late John and Mary Stricker Lankheit. She had lived in Charleston her entire life where she was a life long member of St. Henry's Catholic Church.
On September 10, 1936 she married George W. "Bill" Carman who preceded her in death on March 7, 1973.
Surviving are three sons, Ernest Carman and Joe Carman both of Charleston and David Carman of Kelso; two sisters, Betty Schwerzler of Chicago, Ill. and Rose Reeves of Los Angeles, Ca.; three grandsons, John, Bill and Robert Carman; two granddaughters, Lisa Stallings and Amy Carman; also three great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, four brothers preceded her in death.
Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. today at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where prayers will be offered at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 2, 1999, at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Charles with FR. Gerald Brown, pastor, serving as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in the Texas Bend Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
