LICK CREEK, Ill. -- Helen L. Russell, 83, of Lick Creek, Ill., died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at Union County Hospital in Anna.
She was born on Jan. 6, 1916, in Delta, Ill., daughter of Alva and Gladys Hummel Cain.
She was a member of Mount Hebron Cumberland Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. She raised 34 foster children in addition to her own children.
Survivors include six sons, Leon Russell and Glen Russell, both of Lick Creek, Terry Russell of Carbondale, Steve Russell of Lake of Egypt, Jason Russell of Dexter, Mo., and Steve Stanley of Murphysboro; three daughters, Marilyn Baker of Springfield, Ill., Shawna Smith of Jonesboro, and Beth Russell of Murphysboro; a brother, Gerald Cain of Jonesboro; three sisters, Thelma Clendenin and Catherine Hale, both of Jonesboro, and Mary Stewart of Buncombe; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Anna and after noon Thursday at Mount Hebron Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the church with Roger Glasco officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
