JONESBORO, Ill. -- Helen L. Elam, 75, of Jonesboro died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at Union County Hospital in Anna. She was born May 3, 1922, at Jonesboro, daughter of Jefferson E. and Clara C. Weiss Slicker. She married Paul L. Elam on May 3, 1947, at Benton, Ark. He died on May 20, 1987...

JONESBORO, Ill. -- Helen L. Elam, 75, of Jonesboro died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at Union County Hospital in Anna.

She was born May 3, 1922, at Jonesboro, daughter of Jefferson E. and Clara C. Weiss Slicker.

She married Paul L. Elam on May 3, 1947, at Benton, Ark. He died on May 20, 1987.

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Anna VFW Post 3455.

Survivors include a son, C.J. Elam of Florida; a daughter, Phyllis Lingle of Jonesboro; a sister, Minnie Parcell of Jonesboro; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, two sisters and a stepson.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 6-8 tonight and on Monday until the time of the funeral.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Joe Aldridge will officiate.

Burial will be in the Anna Cemetery.
