SEDGEWICKVILLE -- Funeral for Helen E. Hahs, formerly of Sedgewickville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. The Rev. William Brooks will officiate, with burial in Sedgewickville Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today.
Hahs, 89, died Monday, June 15, 1998, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
She was born March 9, 1909, at Doe Run, daughter of Keith and Iona Langley Hunt. She and L.J. Hahs were married Oct. 16, 1930. He died June 8, 1976.
The Hahs owned and operated Hahs Feed Store many years. After his death she worked at the former Crites Appliance Store. She had been an assistant librarian at Bollinger County Library, and drove the book mobile a number of years.
She was a member of Sedgewickville Lutheran Church, had been a Sunday School teacher, and was pianist many years. She was a charter member of Willing Helpers Extension Club.
Hahs had resided at Fountainbleau Lodge the past three years.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Hahn of Sedgewickville; a brother, Harold Hunt of Monroe, La.; a sister, Tootsie Parker of Pass Christian, Miss.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers.
