Helen Elanore Crites, 98, of Jackson passed away Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, in the same home in which she was born in rural Jackson. She was born Nov. 7, 1917, daughter of Gale W. and Zula Z. Helen Elanore Crites, 98, of Jackson passed away Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, in the same home in which she was born in rural Jackson.

She was born Nov. 7, 1917, daughter of Gale W. and Zula Z. Dockins Wilkinson. She and Robert L. "Bob" Crites were married Nov. 7, 1941 in Jackson. He passed away Feb. 1, 2008.

Helen worked closely with Bob and was his right-hand on the family farm. She was a member of Millersville United Methodist Church for many years, where she had taught Sunday school for children and adults, and was a member of the UMW. She was a member of the Red Hat Society in Jackson, the Jackson Eastern Star Chapter 91 and an auxiliary member of the Millersville Fire Department. She enjoyed cooking for church dinners, her specialty being chicken and dumplings.

Loving survivors include two children, David (Sue) Crites and Jane Whitener of Jackson; three grandchildren, Lisa (Bryan) Archer, Bob (Mary) Crites and Jamie (Stephanie) Whitener; two stepgrandchildren, Kris (Kenny) Heise and Terri Treadway; four great-grandchildren, Ricky (Josh) Felty, Jordan (Robert) Brown, Bailey Crites and Calen Crites; four great-stepgrandchildren, Nina, Emmalee and Jacob Heise and Bobbi Sue Treadway.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son-in-law, Carl Whitener; a sister, Loretta Dickerson-Dockins; and a half brother, Rutherford Wilkinson.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Craig Petzoldt and Janet Hopkins officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

The family prefers contributions be made to Millersville Methodist Church.
