Helen Faye Birk, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born July 3, 1920, in Greenway, Ark., to the late Reynold E. and Lucille Stokes Alcorn. Helen and Elbert A. Birk were married April 25, 1943. He preceded her in death April 1, 1989.
Helen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its Ladies Senior Aid.
She is survived by four children, Carol (Gary) Schmidt, Roy Birk, Dan (Lynne) Birk and Gary (Donna) Birk, all of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Lyla Mullins of St. Louis; 11 grandchildren, Cory (Janna) Crosnoe, Rex (Nikki) Crosnoe, Danielle Kelley, Melissa (Fred) Edwards, Mindy (Robbie) Jenkins, Jeremy Birk, Jamie (Reva) Birk, Heather (Brian) Holdman, Amber (Shane) Brown, Andrea (Chad) Bogenpohl and Garrett Birk; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Elbert; and a brother, A.J. Alcorn.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
