Helen Bierk

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Helen E. Bierk, 99, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Perry County Nursing Home. She was born Feb. 15, 1902, in Gorham, Kan., daughter of Anton and Jennie Psenicka Nowak. She and John L. Mills were married in August 1922. He died Aug. 25, 1923. She later married Jake Bierk, who died Jan. 20, 1966...

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Helen E. Bierk, 99, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at Perry County Nursing Home.

She was born Feb. 15, 1902, in Gorham, Kan., daughter of Anton and Jennie Psenicka Nowak. She and John L. Mills were married in August 1922. He died Aug. 25, 1923. She later married Jake Bierk, who died Jan. 20, 1966.

Bierk was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and Ladies of Charity.

Survivors include six grandchildren, Kathleen Duke, Barbara Tesh, Maureen Mills, Patricia Anadkat, Mary Jo Schulte and Robert Mills; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son, six brothers, and a sister.

Friends may call at Miller Family Funeral Home from 8-9:50 a.m. Saturday. The rosary will be recited at 9.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kevin P. Fausz officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
