HELEN BEATRICE ABSHER

MOREHOUSE -- Helen Beatrice Absher, 85, of Morehouse died Saturday, May 27, 1995, at Sell's Rest Home in Matthews.

She was born May 8, 1910, at Morehouse, the daughter of Adolph and Ollie Bratton Moseley. She lived in the Morehouse area most of her life.

On June 18, 1932, she marred William Gurley at Morehouse. He preceded her in death Jan. 23, 1979. She married Charles Roscoe Absher at Morehouse in October 1980. He preceded her in death April 4, 1993.

Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Ann Gurley Wheelis of Onalaska, Texas, and Margie Absher of Sikeston; a son, Charles "Buddy" Absher of Rayville, La.; two sisters, Lena Peer of Memphis, Tenn., and Angeline Yancy of Mobile, Ala.; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Morehouse. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Morehouse. The Rev. J.D. McClard of Sikeston will officiate, and burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
