Hazel Marie McBride, 91, of Jackson died Saturday, March 5, 2005, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. Hazel Marie McBride, 91, of Jackson died Saturday, March 5, 2005, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Oct. 29, 1913, in Byrd Township, Jackson, daughter of Charles Albert and Lizzie Lee Goza Abernathy.

She grew up on a farm near Jackson and attended the McFerron School. She moved to Jackson after graduation.

She and Earl C. McBride were married June 14, 1931, at Columbia, Mo. He died Feb. 10, 1996.

She and Earl spent three years in Tempe, Ariz., for health reasons. While in Tempe, she worked for Boston Department Store and Leeds Shoes. After returning to Jackson, she worked for Montgomery Ward and later for International Shoe until retirement.

She had been a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson since 1929. She worked in the Sunday school department, was a member of the Barrett Group, served in the nursery for 19 years and was active in the WMU.

Survivors include 14 nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Freeman, Bern, Ora and Linus; four sisters, Mildred, Eula, Elsie and Mattie; two nieces; and a nephew.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carter Frey officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery at Jackson.

A special thanks to those at the Lutheran Home who gave her such loving care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Jackson.
