ORAN, Mo. -- Hazel Mae Anthony, 92, of Oran died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at the Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Mo. She was born Oct. 6, 1915, at Lamar, Ark., daughter of Fred and Alberta Bradley Harmon. She married Bernard "B.W." Anthony on July 19, 1935, and he preceded her in death April 12, 1993, after 58 years of marriage. They moved to Southeast Missouri in December 1936...

ORAN, Mo. -- Hazel Mae Anthony, 92, of Oran died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at the Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Mo.

She was born Oct. 6, 1915, at Lamar, Ark., daughter of Fred and Alberta Bradley Harmon. She married Bernard "B.W." Anthony on July 19, 1935, and he preceded her in death April 12, 1993, after 58 years of marriage. They moved to Southeast Missouri in December 1936.

Mrs. Anthony was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting and embroidery. She had been on kidney dialysis since August 1999. Hazel Anthony was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oran.

Survivors include three sons, William Lee Anthony and wife Shirley of Selma, Ala., Kenneth Gene Anthony and wife Dixie of Grantville, Kan., and Fredie Wayne Anthony of Derby, Kan.; one daughter, Betty Perry of Kinmundy, Ill.; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Imogene Uptain of Concord, Calif., and Josephine Tate of Oran; two brothers, Fred Harmon and wife Thelma of Portageville, Mo., Bob Harmon and wife Ernestine of Phoenix; numerous nieces, nephews and special friends and relatives of the community also survive.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Mary Gentry, preceded her in death Sept. 9, 2002. Her physical presence will be missed greatly, but we are all blessed by her living spirit, which will live on through us.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran after 4 p.m. Monday.

The funeral will be at the First Baptist Church in Oran at 10 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Ed Carter officiating. Burial will be at Friend Cemetery in Oran.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials to go to the Oran Baptist Church.
