On Thursday March 25, 2010 at the age of 90 years, our mother, Hattie Ferne "Hap" Slinkard was called to be with her Lord in heaven. She was born Nov. 25, 1919, in Jackson, a daughter of William Lynn and Alta Idler Hall Allen. She was married to Boyd L. Slinkard on Aug. 13, 1939, and he preceded her in death Dec. 31, 1966...

On Thursday March 25, 2010 at the age of 90 years, our mother, Hattie Ferne "Hap" Slinkard was called to be with her Lord in heaven.

She was born Nov. 25, 1919, in Jackson, a daughter of William Lynn and Alta Idler Hall Allen. She was married to Boyd L. Slinkard on Aug. 13, 1939, and he preceded her in death Dec. 31, 1966.

Hattie lived all of her married life in Whitewater where she was a beautician for more than 50 years, working from her home.

She was baptized at the Calvary Baptist Church and was one of its first charter members. She was a member of Whitewater United Methodist Church in Whitewater and a member of the UMW.

She is survived by two loving sons, Richard Dean Slinkard and Donald Ray Slinkard and wife Carol Marie Picou-Slinkard of Whitewater; three loving grandsons, Jeffrey Allen Slinkard, Mark Wayne Slinkard and wife Julie Marie Lueder-Slinkard, and Christopher Boyd Slinkard and wife Amy Little-Slinkard; four great-grandchildren, Amanda Marie, Ashleigh Lauren, Andrea Nicole and Ryan Christopher Slinkard; one loving sister, Mary Jewel Niswonger; two loving sisters-in-law, Lawanna Moore and Azalea Slinkard-Devore.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; six brothers, J.C., George, Tommy, Oscar, Lee Roy, Joe; and one sister, Annabelle.

A special thanks to a loving niece, Brenda Rumfelt, and Dr. Matthew Sheppard.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at Whitewater United Methodist Church in Whitewater.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at the church, with the Rev. Don Kuehle officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery in Whitewater.

Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
