BENTON, Mo. -- Harvey Eldon Washer, 74, of Benton died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at his home.
He was born Feb. 27, 1940, at Charleston, Missouri, to Charles Pope and Mattie Barber Washer. He and Sharon Walker were married June 18, 1999.
Harvey had lived in Southeast Missouri most of his life, having grown up at Alfalfa Center in Mississippi County.
He had been employed as a mechanic for farm machinery. A talented musician, he played guitar for the Goldtones, having played throughout the country.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Ralph Temple and Robbie Washer of Cape Girardeau; eight daughters, Barbie Buchheit of Chaffee, Missouri, Lisa Anderson of East Prairie, Missouri, Teresa Hale of Anniston, Missouri, Misty Gonzales of Charleston, Rebecca McCurdy and Crystal Garner of Yukon, Oklahoma, Jodie Walker of Bell City, Missouri, and Diana Walker of St. Louis; a brother, Doug Washer of Independence, Missouri; a sister, Connie Damron of Murray, Kentucky; 27 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jerry Washer and Donald Patterson; a grandson, Joshua Lee Hale; and two granddaughters, Laci Deanne Washer and Chelsi Leanne Washer.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at Unity Baptist Church near Benton.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Dennis Lowe, pastor, officiating. Private burial will follow.
Pallbearers will be Ricky, Brandon, Donna, Josh, Jeff, John, Gabriel, Corey, Chuck and Craig.
